Cheonmacheong to Cheomseongdae
(Gyerim Road) 천마총 & 첨성대 (계림로)

Just outside the walls surrounding Cheonma tomb is where you want to go. It’s by far my favourite place to see the blossoms, mostly because of convenience and a more authentic city feel. It’s decorated, but not to the point where it’s too much. It’s also really easy to get to and more so overlooked by non-locals.

If you’re facing north and just about to enter Cheonmachong, don’t. Take a few steps to your right (east) and you’ll see a quiet curvy road, with that stone wall that’s ever so present in many dramas. Take stroll down here and you’ll see some great blossoms.
The lights are white and so they show a more natural colour of the blossoms at night. During the day the pink blossoms fall while the sun sets, again, like a movie scene, this time 20 times better. The stone wall and tiling really add to the experience and make it known you’re there with the real deal. If you head a little more towards downtown(north of where you started) you’ll find a lot of Gyeongju Bread bakeries, or the more famous Hwangnam Bread(황남빵). Why not pick one up and eat it on your stroll? The bread is a very Gyeongju thing, adding more to the experience.

If you’re back at the south entrance of Cheonma tomb and decide to head towards Cheomseongdae the observatory, you’ll find on Cheomseong road, there are also a lot of cherry blossoms. This road is packed more fully with cars trying to get to other destinations. This road also has a lot of coffee shops if you don’t want to navigate through the traffic, and instead enjoy a nice front row seat to the event.

The last part of this area is the Wolseong forest itself, behind Cheomsongdae. It’s the area that provides a nice backdrop when you’re looking from outside into the park area. There’s one tree that’s really close to the pathway people like to take a picture with, but the forest is like a sea of white blossoms. Take a few minutes to walk here at night. It provides for quite a nice date night.
