Kobi in the North York really makes that summer time dinner choice very easy. Located just off Steeles its one of the nicer looking places with a patio. Warning: If you are a MEATatarian then the following images may be delicious. Viewer discretion is advised.

Quite new, Kobi has benefited from word of mouth advertising. My friend first ate here, recommended it to a few others who went the next day, and then also brought me making that three trips within three days. The Instagram pictures helped in convincing others to go. I thought my Kobi BBQ picture was nothing special but I’m happy to report its one of my highest liked photos.

On arriving, the bright red sign looks new and fresh. Very clean indeed. The patio is enclosed offering some privacy from the passerbys while letting all that good smell envelope the sidewalk. The place looks huge from the outside but inside is quite cozy. When I say cozy, I’m only half using it in the way real estate agents describe a small house. It actually is cozy, with no open tables each group has their own booth. The place is probably bigger than it looks but because of the booths it divides the open space. Still though the servers are attentive and can easily see if you need to order more.

The layout makes sense since each table is equipped with a special grill. You know this means you have to order something to cook. We chose Bee House Pork Belly (벌집 삼겹살) which is really just a thicker cut of the regular pork belly(삼겹살). #thickness.  Before the food comes they’ll warm up the grill, which distributed the heat evenly since a pan of water is heated underneath. While it’s doing that, its also heating up your 됀장찌개(soybean stew) in the middle. Having studied engineering, I’m amazed by efficiency as you can tell by this post and a few others before it.

I only have one tip. Make sure you cook those mushrooms bowl side up so that it keeps the juices in. I made the amateur mistake of flipping it over to cook both sides, letting all that goodness out so my mushroom was dry. I also wasn’t able to make it out to the patio just yet, but from my friends’ instagram photos it looks awesome. Perfect atmosphere for drinking and cooking with this nice weather.
